Confessions of a Bristol Wedding Photographer.
I have a confession to make: “I. love. taking. photographs. of. details. at. weddings.”
As a wedding photographer, it goes without saying a large portion of my day involves capturing natural candid photos (and I REALLY REALLY love that) however early in my career, I realised just how important the little details are "and I'll tell you for why".
As I am based in the South West the majority of weddings I photograph are in Bristol, Bath, Gloucester, Somerset and other surrounding areas. It is inevitable working as a professional wedding photographer that I visit popular wedding venues multiple times a year. What continues to amaze me is how different every single wedding feels, looks and runs. And I attribute a large portion of that to the special details and creative ideas of my fabulous Brides & Grooms.
In reality, typically, a close-up photograph of the wedding rings, a place setting, or even a wedding cake isn't going to get enlarged and hung in the living room.
BUT! that doesn’t mean they are not important!
What if the Bride and Grooms wedding rings were their grandparents?
What if the name cards were handwritten by the Maid of Honour? and Brides Sister spent 6 months making personalised hand-painted mugs to be given as wedding favours?
What if the stunning four-tier Wedding Cake was made by the Grooms 80-year-old Grandmother?
These details are important and I love capturing them. They give context to telling the story of every wedding day.
Here is a small selection of some of my favourite detail shots from 2019 & 2020.
